Joyce Luma, the new World Food Program’s (WFP) Representative and Country Director on Wednesday, 25 October 2017, presented her letter of appointment to government officials.

Appointed by David Beasley, WFP’s Executive Director, Luma will manage one of WFP’s largest operations.

“I am honored to start my position as the new WFP Country Director in Ethiopia,” said Luma. “The history and culture of this country has long interested me. More than this, I am encouraged by the impressive sustainable developments gains made in the last 15-20 years – it is a great success story”.

Luma, who is a native of Zambia, has a PhD degree in Human Nutrition and Agricultural Economics from Texas Tech University, USA.
