Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed will pay his first official visit to Europe next week, Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

In his weekly briefing to journalists, spokesperson of the ministry, Meles Alem said Premier Abiy will pay his first official visit to Europe next week on the invitation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emanuel Macron.

The Premier is expected to confer with German Chancellor and French president on issues of bi-lateral and regional cooperation, he added.

Ethiopian Day will also be celebrated on October 31, 2018 at Frankfurt, Germany by Ethiopian Diaspora who would converge over the city from different parts of Europe.

The Day will be celebrated with the theme of “Stand Together, Build the Future”.

Prime Minister Abiy will address a huge gathering at Frankfurt, where a mobilizing committee led by Birtukan Ayano, State Minister at Foreign Affairs is already organizing the event.

According to Meles over 20,000 Ethiopian Diasporas will participate in the meeting to be held in Frankfurt, Germany.

He further stated that members of various Ethiopian missions in Europe are coordinate the event so that Ethiopians in the Diaspora to have opportunity to discuss with the Prime Minister.

Meles also said President Mulatu Teshome will represent Africa on partnership for green growth and global goals conference to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark from October 19-20, 2018. (ENA)
