ADDIS ABEBA – Meta Abo Brewery, a DIAGEO company, announced the appointment of Stephen Nirenstein as the new Managing Director.
He replaced Baker Magunda who was promoted to lead the Guinness Nigeria business of DIAGEO.
Stephen has been with DIAGEO for the past 17 years.
Before coming to Ethiopia, he was the Financial Controller, Enterprise Operations Nairobi but is no stranger to Africa Emerging Markets.
“I am excited to be in Ethiopia and join the Meta family,” said Stephen speaking about his new role.
“I look forward to growing both our business and our people and for Meta to continue to be a positive contributor to the future growth of Ethiopia,” he told The Daily Monitor.
Stephen started his career with Diageo in 2001 as a Brand Analyst based in South Africa, where he is originally from.
Diageo is known to seek to push the boundaries to develop innovations that meet consumer preference and demand.
Diageo acquired one the oldest breweries, Meta, for a premium of 225mln USD and since then have invested 119mln USD into the brewery’s expansion.
The brewery currently produces, Meta Classic, Malta Guinness, Guinness Foreign Extra Stout (FES), Kuru Malt and Azmera Draught. (Daily Monitor)
