Security officials have arrested 15 individuals suspected of carrying out assassination in various parts of Oromia regional state.

They have been operating under a group name called ‘AbaaTorbee’, state’s communication bureau revealed.

They were arrested in a joint operation carried out by the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) and security officials.

Officials alleged that the suspects have been assassinating civilians, government officials and members of the security forces.

Security officers described three suspects GadisaNegasaChala, Merga Tefera Bulchu and Anisa Getachew, as coordinators of the killings in Dembidolo, Nekempt and North Shoa zone.

Various pistols, hand grenades and weapons were also seized along with the suspects, the region’s communication bureau said.

The suspects were arrested in the capital Addis Abeba and they came here to assassinate senior government officials, prominent individuals and activists, the bureau alleged.

It said the suspects have a direct link with armed force operating in western part of Oromia regional state.

Operations were underway to arrest other suspects, the bureau said, adding it will make public their action and identity soon.
