The federal army and police have started to move as of Sunday in a bid to recover peace and stability of western and central Gonder zones.
It will take serious measures against armed individuals or groups, who have been causing problems in the areas, it added.
Security forces have now forbidden for anyone or group to carry weapon in Gondar city.
The same ban has been applied in the road between Gondar and Humera and five kilometers around the road, except the military and the security forces, said ZelalemLijalem, Amhara Region Police Commissioner, during press briefing on Sunday.
Over 45,000 people have been displaced in the area because of the conflicts.
Reports say security vacuum produced as result of several months-long protest in the area have created chances for some armed individuals and gangs to act as peacekeepers and asking the people to give them money for their services.
Reports show that the conflict has been affecting the tourist flow to Gondar, which is known for its historic sites such as, World Heritages including Palaces and Castles of Fasiledes and Siemen Mountains, among others.(the daily monitor)
