ADDIS ABEBA – The revenue collected in the first half of the current 208-19 fiscal year fall short government’s target, data from ministry of culture indicated.
Ethiopia has earned 1.4 billion USD from the sector in the first half of this fiscal year, which started in July 8, 2018.
Ministry of Culture said the plan was to secure 2.7 billion US dollars for the period.
But the country managed to attain only 53 percent of its target by earning 1.4 billion USD, said Dr. HirutKassa,
About 380, 376 foreign tourists have visited Ethiopia’s tourist attraction sites in the reported period.
The revenue decreased despite a perceived increase of tourists coming to Ethiopia by the tour agency in the country.
The sector is still recovering few years of political turbulence and conflicts. (The Daily Monitor)
