The Ethiopia Ministry of Revenue has seized 790 kilograms of cannabis in a major drug bust, the state affiliated media outlet Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC) reported on Monday.
The drug bust happened on Monday morning in Ethiopia’s Oromia regional state, located in the central part of the country, reported FBC.
The 790 kilograms of cannabis was being transported by a private vehicle from illegal cannabis farms in Ethiopia to Kenya when it was seized by Ethiopian authorities, further reported FBC.
The driver of the vehicle has escaped with police currently conducting manhunt to seize the suspect.
On Thursday, Ethiopian police seized 650 kilograms of cannabis in Ethiopia’s southern city of Moyale in another major drug bust.
In recent years, Ethiopia has toughened its illegal drug laws and cracked down on individuals trading in illegal drugs.
